About Tara McLaughlin
I have been working full time in the furniture finishing and repairs sector snice 2011. I am a trade qualified French Polisher and Cabinet Maker with a passion for practicing traditional methods. I am incredibly grateful to have been awarded Furniture Finishing Apprentice of the year NSW in May 2020. I graduated from the University of Canberra in 2020 with my Bachelor of Heritage, Conservation and Museums. I have focused my university studies on furniture conservation.
Outside of working I enjoy spending time with my family and young daughter. We enjoy traveling, camping and four-wheel driving in the amazing Australian bush. I also spend a lot of time with my kelpie, Missy Blue. My other interest is field hockey, I am coaching the women's this year as make my way back after having my daughter.

Table Top Painting: Conservation Report
I complete the conservation of this incredibly unique table. The table top is hexagon in shape with round painting in the centre depicting a river situated in a gorge. The painting was completed Mr Edward Davies and completed between the 1870s and 1920s. The table and painting were in poor shape prior the conservation work. I have complete the treatment by repairing and consolidating the carboard mat around the painting, the painted has been clean and losses were in-painted.
Writing Box: Conservation Report
I complete treatment of this Victoria-era walnut writing box with ebony and marquetry lined edge completed with mother of pearl inlay. This writing box was water damaged prior to treatment resulting is water marks in the finish, lifting veneer and large losses. The treatment successfully consolidated the finish, adhered the lifting veneer and infill losses that were then in painted.
Glenburn Heritage Precinct - Practice Grant Application
I complete a practise grant application for my assessment at university for the Glenburn Heritage Precinct. The application was written to the ACT Heritage Grant program (Individual) criteria.
